“Music is the healing force and voice that speaks the truth which can bring humanity together. Black Music and Jazz in particular has been a voice of rebellion, revolution, and our refusal to succumb to the forces of repression and racism. In this time of corporate takeover of the world through greed and corporate terrorism, it is important that we as a people stand up and say “NO, NOT IN MY NAME” to the oil companies, World Bank, International Monetary Foundation, World Trade Organization and any others who threaten our very survival. I would like to dedicate my performance this afternoon to the people of Palestine and those that were massacred in the refuge camp of Jenin by the war criminal Ariel Sharon and King George W’s seven billion dollar military support paid for with American tax dollars: and to Hugo Chavez, democratically elected president of Venezuela who survived a C.I.A. sponsored failed coup-de-tat attempt with the blessing of the American Oil companies,”
